Rebecca McFarland and Michael Mitchell were married on February 20, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis, TN. The reception was at the Quonset in Collierville, TN following the ceremony. Pictures above are of the First Dance, entry way table with guest book and their Happily ever after exit. Thank you Rebecca and Michael for letting the Quonest be a small part of your BIG DAY!!
There was a fundraiser at the Quonset on September 13 for this wonderful ministry. Ellen Humberickhouse is an amazing warrior for God and the people (children) of Haiti.
Ellen Humerickhouse was 19 when she felt the call to follow GOD but wasn’t sure where HE wanted her to serve. After missionary trips to various inner cities in the US, as well as Uganda, Ethiopia, and Reynosa, Mexico, she went on a trip to Arcahaie, Haiti that changed her life.
Haiti is still struggling to recover after the 2010 earthquake that killed tens of thousands of people, and left many more homeless and destitute. However, Ellen's heart was touched by the fact that people who live in shacks, have little or no food and get their drinking water from a ditch still know how to share the love of Jesus Christ. There is so much need in Haiti that Ellen didn’t know what she, as one person, could do but she knew she had to do something. So, in the fall of 2013 after much prayer GOD provided a vision to Ellen. With that encouragement she bought some land in the village of Guiton to build a children's home.
La Limye (The Light) will be a Christ-centered children's home for orphaned girls of any age. The goal is to take them out of the circle of poverty, feed and nurture them, teach them a trade that they can use to support themselves as adults, and show them the love of Christ. Ellen wants to make a difference in these girls’ lives so they can grow up happy, healthy and strong in their Christian faith.
Along with the children's home, La Limye will be used as a community center for the local adults. The goals will be to offer basic literacy and life skills classes, give them access to clean water, and more importantly we will be teaching them about the love of Christ.
This sweet couple was a joy to celebrate. From arriving in horse and buggy to leaving surrounded by loved ones and streamers flying, this night was a special one. It is obvious how adored this couple is by their friends' attention to detail in creating such an awesome party! The decor reflected the couple's elegant but fun personalities. Thank you so much Leslie and James for choosing to celebrate with us at The Quonset!! We loved every minute of it. Congratulations!!
What a blast it was partying with the newest Wickens! This group knew how to have fun. Their green color scheme looked great against the exposed brick, and their decor was perfect. At their reception they had an amazing candy bar where they had fun bags to fill and cute koozies to choose from. They definitely paid attention to detail and it made for a fabulous reception. Congrats to the Wickens!! Thanks for choosing us to celebrate with!
Felipe did the brick-work on our back wall at the Quonset, so when he told us they needed a place to celebrate his little girls first communion, of course we had to host! They went all out for this sweet girl, and it was very cool getting to see all the traditions. Their centerpieces were beautiful and their food looked divine. Overall, it was such a fun time and we hope that all the guests enjoyed it as much as we did!
We loved being able to celebrate Joe and Kelly's marriage here at the Quonset! They had such fun family and friends who created a perfect party atmosphere! I loved their personal touches for the reception, like the engraved toasting flutes and a funny cake topper that reflects the silly but sweet personalities of the bride and groom. Thank you Joe and Kelly for letting us party with you two!!
What a fun night celebrating such a loved and sweet young lady! Mia had her big quinceañera celebration last weekend here at the Quonset, and a celebration it was!! There are many traditions that go along with this birthday bash, and we absolutely loved being a part of it all. From the choreographed dance routines to the ceremony of moving from the flat slippers to heels, you could say this party was one of a kind. Mia looked stunning in her traditional long, white dress. All her closest friends who wore her favorite color, purple, accompanied her. The decorations were fitting for a princess and the dancing was an absolute blast! Everything seemed to be just about perfect for the birthday girl, Mia. We are so glad this fun family chose to celebrate with us!!
Hello all!! My name is Anna, and I am thrilled to say that I will be interning at the Quonset this summer! As working in the event industry is my goal after college, I am very excited to have this opportunity at such an amazing place.
First, I’d like to share a little bit about me. I was born and raised in Germantown, Tennessee and love it here in the Memphis area… I am a junior at Mississippi State University majoring in Business Administration with minors in Marketing and Management. I am also a part of the MSU all-girl cheerleading team and absolutely love serving my school in that way!
At Mississippi State, I am also involved in many other organizations including my sorority, Chi Omega, and a campus ministry, Reformed University Fellowship. I love spending time in Starkville during the school months but have always enjoyed coming home to Memphis for the summer. I am very excited to be a part of the Quonset team this summer while I am home!
I will give showings of the fabulous venue and help ensure the events go smoothly and perfectly. I will also be in charge of updating the various social media outlets. I look forward to finishing up this semester of school so I can really get to work. Until I am officially back home for the summer season, I will be staying connected through blogging, Instagramming, Tweeting, etc…
I am confident that you will see, just as I have, how wonderful the Quonset is for your next event! It really is the perfect spot for so many different types of events- anything from birthday celebrations to wedding celebrations and more!
That’s all for now! Be back soon with some fun events going on at the Quonset!
Stephanie and Bret arrived at the Quonset in style from Collierville United Methodist Church, where they were married. Congrats to you all and many happy years to come.
Robbie and Jessie decided that they wanted to have a very unique rehearsal dinner. They decided to have a costume rehearsal dinner party on October 30, 2015. Then get married on Halloween evening. There were around 80 attendees at this party and every single person attending came in costume (and there were no duplicates). The groom dressed as the JOKER and the bride was Harlow Quinn. There was pumpkin craving, which were used the next day at the wedding and several very competitive games of corn hole, played on the Quonset corn hole boards. Congrats to Robbie and Jessie!!! We wish you many happy years to come.
Sarah and Jeremiah were going to be married at the Collierville United Methodist Church on the Historic Town Square. The wedding party, family and bride/groom met at the Church for their rehearsal then walked down to the Quonset for their rehearsal dinner. As you can see by the pictures there was a bike theme. These two allowed the Quonset to be part of the start to their journey of a lifetime together. Thank you Sarah and Jeremiah for sharing part of your special weekend with us
The FedEx Pilots’ Wives Association held their Annual Fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House and the LeBonheur FedEx Family House tonight at the Quonset. There were a hundred plus FedEx Pilots and their Wives at the event that raised lots of money for these two homes. These homes are a refuge for family’s of cancer patients. The homes provide a place for the family’s to rest and re energize for the long days at the hospital. Thank you FedEx Pilots’ Wives Association for all you do for these two organizations.
July 4th was a beautiful day, not only was it unseasonably cool but it was the day that Melanie Yerger got married. It was an AWESOME reception. The bride, groom and bridal party arrived at the Quonset in a white limo bus and entered the Quonset to be introduced and to dance the night away. There was wonderful food, BEAUTIFUL flowers (by Connie’s florist in Holly Springs MS), a GREAT DJ (Disc Jockey’s of Desoto County) and lots of smiles for the photo booth. The night ended with sparklers and an old car for the bride and groom to depart in. All in all, there were over 280 in attendance and I’m pretty sure they all had a FANTASTIC time.
This past Wednesday night the Quonset was “swinging” with celebration for four SWEET 16 birthdays. Over fifty 16 and 17 year old guys and gals attended the party. There was lots of food and good times. A dance instructor taught everyone how to “Swing” dance. The night was topped off with a LARGE cookie and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY song!!
On April 28, 2015 the Quonset held a Ribbon Cutting/Open House to official open the venue. The Chamber of Commerce staff, members, Town officials, family and many friends helped us celebrate this momentous occasion. There was food, beverages, music and lots of pictures. Thank you to everyone that attended.
On April 23, one of the sales teams from FedEx held their evening dinner at the Quonset. After a day of training at the headquarters, they felt the need to have dinner offsite. They had Simply Delicious cater the dinner as well as decorate the tables for the dinner. As you can see by the pictures attached (provided by Tricia Woodman with Simply Delicious), the evening was an elegant affair.
